Element 5.2: Use appropriate assessments to evaluate student learning before, during, and after instruction.
Artifact: Statistics and Assessment of Physical Education Work Sample
Date: Fall 2011
Reflection: During the Statistics and Assessment of Physical Education class, we were required to compile both pre and post psychomotor assessments of the students in a particular game or activity. My group and I were assigned Ultimate Frisbee, and decided to create an assessment based on three cues that each student would utilize. After compiling the information, we graphed the Pre and Post Assessment results, resulting in this image. Having the ability to utilize assessment results will help further me along as a future Physical Educator because if I can see where my students are regarding various aspects of a skill, I can adapt and change my lessons in order to provide students with the best opportunity to improve and learn. Also, being able to present this information during an open house setting will help show parents that learning is taking place, and bring justification to having Physical Education.
