Artifact: History and Philosophy of Physical Education and Sport – Skill Proficiency Test
Date: Fall 2009
Reflection: History and Philosophy of Physical Education and Sport was a class that I took Freshman year. In this class, we had a lab once a week where we would learn and perform a multitude of different activities. For this particular event, we had to perform twelve different skills while we had a mentor work with us to improve those skills. At the end of the semester, students were videotaped performing these skills and graded on a 1-4 scale for efficiency. I scored 41 out of the possible 48 points on the assessment. This assessment is important to my development as a Physical Education instructor because it helps me understand how to perform the skills as well as what to look for while assessing. It also shows that I am proficient in all the skills which will help me provide correct feedback and offer suggestions for the students.
